Hello friends/Hola amigos!
Well sorry I’m late! For real though, tons has happened since my last post. I don’t think you’ll want to read this all the way through.
As some of you know I went on a GUIDE Retreat. This is a retreat with an organization called Child Evangelism Fellowship. I had been volunteering with them for 5 years now, and this retreat is to find out career opportunities they have, their internships, and their 3 month training course. The campus is in Missouri and I live in Florida. It was almost a 20 hour drive. Honestly it was amazing. I met some great people, had a ton of fun, and learned some things about myself. I was nervous going because I’m very shy, but honestly I felt like I was very outgoing despite my complete drain of energy. For those who dont know GUIDE stands for
Gaining a biblical perspective
Understanding God’s plan for you
Investigating the opportunities
Developing a plan
Enjoying the journey
I certainly did most of those things.
This picture was when we were in the studio getting a tour of the campus.
This was in the ‘flag plaza’ or my favorite place on campus.
This was me in the studio without the green screen on.
This was when we first got there! It was such a relief after 16-17 hours!
I get home, and then things were fine, carrying on with school and college as usual. I am learning new things everyday.
I am getting better with my YouTube channel, but I’m terribly inconsistent. Just as I need to edit a youtube video now but I need to get this up today because it is long over due.
Now dad and I hike about twice a week. We’ve been to 4 trails, 3 just added today so we don’t have to go on the dirt roads anymore. We’ve started small, 1 mile, .5 there and .5 back. I am getting ready just in case they ask me to go hiking in Costa Rica. My goal is a 5k at Disney in early January.
Go on my Instagram (marina.alonzo) to see the awesome trails and get inspired! AKA I don’t know how to upload them on here.
We went to see Ariana Grande! I vlogged the whole day, but my phone died during the concert and I have to get footage from my mom and sister. That is why the vlog isn’t up yet. It WILL BE UP BY SATURDAY I PROMISE! I am getting a video up tonight. It is a sit-down, “why am I here” video explaining why I chose to start YouTube for my viewers and myself. I hope it helps some people and me come up with ideas. Anyways back to Ariana Grande. We played in the pool with dad the whole day, and then we went to the concert. On the road there were three fires! It was crazy. The opening acts were Victoria Monet, and Little Mix. They were amazing and I love them. Then the concert was going amazing, Ari was killing the vocals, and then after an hour and a half, it was time to leave. It became crazy as her mom and brother were there. So, as crazy teenagers, and young adults are, they became hostile and pushy. The traffic flow was gone, and so was my patience. I had popped an eardrum so my hearing was like I was under water. Then we had to wait for a few minutes because the roads were so crowded. Obviously, we got hungry. We decided to go to Steak n Shake. Bad idea. 45 minutes in line, and just plain slow service, they didn’t have anyone pull to the side, it was crazy. We didn’t get home until about 2 the next morning.
Then it was Easter, and it was good. See what I did there? Anyways, Easter was great we had a great family lunch. Then a day passed and I ended up getting the stomach flu. Well, I’ve caught you all up. Have a great week, talk to you all on Monday!
Have a blessed day!
Marina.
