Good morning everyone!

It’s been a Disney month at my house for some reason! I think I’m just excited to go to Disneyland Paris during the summer.

I wanted to talk about Disney movies (as well as multilingual DisneyParks in the future). Disney is an international corporation that has DisneyParks all over the world. Disney has also been exposing children to cultures since the mid-1900’s.

Since Disney is so international, on Netflix and iTunes purchases, they’re available in about ten different languages. Spanish, Chinese, and many different languages. We love them, we all know them, we’ve all watched them all over ten times, and they’re amazing. Disney movies have really been helping me learn Spanish because what I do is while I’m watching them, I write phrases I don’t know in a notebook. I sometimes say the phrases aloud, but that’s if no one’s home. I’ve watched Mulan I and II in Spanish, Moana in Spanish, Beauty and the Beast in French, Sleeping Beauty (video clips) in French, as well as video clips of Tangled in French. I nearly watched Snow White in German, but that would have been way beyond my skillset.

I love the movies that incorporate different languages in them. Such as Lion King, Lilo and Stitch, Frozen (I think has some Norwegian in the main title), Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame has some French and Latin (or Greek) in it, as well as the Princess and the Frog. I can cite some examples, but I encourage you to find the languages in the movies yourselves. I really appreciate being exposed to these cultures, and wanting to memorize songs with phrases in different languages.
